Constructed wetlands for wastewater management

Poor wastewater management has contributed to challenges of water quality experienced globally. In order to achieve water security much effort must be invested in eco-friendly technologies for treating wastewater for reuse to ease the stress on the limited fresh water reserves. Constructed wetlands have proved to be very effective in treating municipal wastewater. Vetiver grass as a wetland plant has also proved to be tolerant to the toxicities associated with municipal wastewater and is an effective grass in saving our fresh water resources against pollution by up taking the nutrients associated with eutrophication.
