In the processes of teaching and learning of the construction of tables and graphs some difficulties are presented which has led to a reflection on how to transform the way of teaching statistics so that students feel motivated this is the reason why the essence of this research is constituted with the aim of improving teaching practice. The research aims to analyse the processes of teaching and learning in the exploratory analysis of data through the project methodology. The study was carried out at an undergraduate level with engineering students with a qualitative research approach since it intends to explore and contextualize an educational reality; in particular to describe the interactions that occur in the classroom; its implementation and evaluation allowed to describe the role of the teacher and the students; likewise the structural elements of some graphics included in the projects presented by the students were characterized.
