Context Matters

<p>Bible interpretation cannot be detached from the context(s) of contemporary Christian Bible readers. Historically Western biblical scholarship has placed itself atop the global interpretative hierarchy limiting the issue of context to the ancient world of the Bible while marginalizing the hermeneutical endeavors of the geopolitical South. In this volume contributors challenge traditional historical-critical views of contextual interpretation with readings of the Bible that enhance our understanding of the Bible in the ancient world as well as in the global South and the global North.</p>
