Continuities and discontinuities on the idea of poverty

The research sheds some light over the continuities and discontinuities on representations of poverty in the past three centuries. Aiming to question the idea of modernity and its intrinsic need of incorporating every society under the same linear logic of progress the research seeks to provide an understanding on how representations of the other throughout history have led to a series of interventions based upon western conceptions of poverty since the late seventeenth century until today.
