Very little is known about the actual lived experiences of women living in Islamabad who face domestic abuse. This current study attempted to redress this shortfall by listening to the women’s stories understanding their home-life situations and how they cope with the situation. A qualitative technique was used to investigate under the feminist perspective the abused women''s narratives in connection to the effects of domestic violence hindrances in the way towards violence disclosure and helpful resources for supporting victims in dealing with domestic violence. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 6 women who identified themselves as victims and survivors of domestic violence perpetrated by their husbands. Via the analysis of thematic seven major themes were identified as described by the participants. The study also found that many of these women were reluctant to disclose abuse as they lack financial and legal support and concerned about their children’s well-being. Women also struggled to avoid negative labels given for bringing dishonor to their families.
