Coping with a Spoiled Self

Despite the increasing concern over Asian delinquencyin Canada there is a paucity of research in thisarea. This book reports a qualitative study on theexperiences of Asian youth in thecriminal justice system. Analyses support thatnegative self image is one of the key factors foroffending. Contrary to general belief leaving anAsian youth gang isless difficult than anticipated and these youth arecommitted to conventional norms of society regardlessof their level of criminal involvement. Theseanalyses inform policy makers and provide practicalinformation for social workers probation officerspolice and other helping professionals in juvenile justice system.
