The aim of the book is to deal with corporate social responsibility as a commitment to sustainable development given that although it is a right guaranteed in our legal system it is still incipient in our society as a concern for the community. It is true that the state does not act efficiently with regard to the collective interest in environmental preservation a situation in which the company can commit itself to carrying out corporate responsibility actions as well as serving as a resource for sustainable development while still achieving its economic objectives for partners and shareholders not least because sustainability can provide a competitive edge to be materialized in positive economic results. However the company''s commitment to sustainable development encourages consumers to adopt sustainable consumption patterns as they will be aware of the company''s commitment to means of production related to natural resources and maintaining the environment for future generations.
