Corrosion Inhibition by EDTA

About The Book

The present work deals with the studies on the corrosion Inhibitive action of inhibitor formulations containing organic and inorganic chemicals present in the materials used in our day to day life to inhibit corrosion. The inhibitors chosen for the present study are ethylene diamine tetra acetic acid (EDTA) 1-hydroxyethane-11-phosphonic acid (HEDP) Sodium phosphate (Na3PO4) Sodiumdodecyl sulphate(SDS) Phenylphosphonic acid (PhPA) Sodium sulphite (Na2SO3) Sodium nitrite (NaNO2) with Zinc sulphate. The biocides selected for the present work is N-Cetyl-NNN-trimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB).The medium chosen for the study is double distilled water. The methods used for the study includes weight-loss methods polarization studies AC impedance FTIRUV absorption and fluorescence spectra. On the basis of results obtained from weight loss method other studies are carried out. The problem due to micro organisms was studied by the use of biocide (CTAB). The experimental result show that all the seven inhibitors chosen exhibit synergism with Zn2+ ions for the corrosion inhibition of carbon steel in double distilled water is in the order HEDP = Na3PO4> PhPA > SDS> NaNO2 > Na2SO
