Country Journal and Old Man's Musings

<p>In this collection of journal entries poems and short essays author Ken Blomberg reflects on nature aging and the passage of time. Set in the beautiful wilds of Wisconsin Ken's passion and respect for nature and man's interactions with it will captivate readers of all ages.</p><p></p><p>Ken is a freelance writer and longtime resident of rural Junction City in north-central Wisconsin. His writing career can be traced back to the mid-70s while attending college at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Success in English courses prompted him to try his hand at freelance writing. After graduating and finding employment in his chosen field he continued to write on the side. His first published article in a regional weekly outdoor newspaper landed him $4.80 back in 1979. Subsequently he discovered he had a talent for putting words on paper and that fact was acknowledged when articles were accepted by the likes of national magazines <em>Field & Stream</em> <em>Fur Fish & Game</em> <em>Pointing Dog Journal</em> <em>Wing & Shot</em> and Ruffed Grouse Society's <em>Drummer</em> - as well as state publications like <em>Wisconsin Sportsman</em> <em>Badger Sportsman</em> and <em>Woods and Waters</em>. Writing was and still is his passion and a day does not go by without it being on his agenda.</p><p></p><p>He is the author of four books <em>Up the Creek</em> <em>Wisconsin Bird Hunting Tales</em> <em>Letters from Art</em> and most recently <em>Country Journal and Old Man's Musings</em>. For more than four decades Ken has written a popular outdoor nature column Up the Creek which ran for many years in several central Wisconsin weekly newspapers including the Plover Profile Manawa Advocate and the Tomorrow River Times . In 2006 the column was picked up by Gannett Wisconsin Newspapers in the Stevens Point Marshfield and Wisconsin Rapids markets. In December 2010 he was asked by the editor of the Portage County Gazette to write his column for their weekly newspapers. Subsequently it also became a quarterly piece for The Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation's Rural Route and the Wisconsin Rural Water Association's Rural Water Journal. Currently it can be found on Facebook and Instagram. A 1976 graduate of UWSP in Resource Management Ken served as Executive Director of the Wisconsin Rural Water Association for 25 years. Now retired he continues to write and is currently working on his first novel Chequamegon - Moon River . He and his wife Lynda currently own and operate a boarding kennel near Junction City.</p>
