About The Book

Since the discovery in December 2019 of several cases of infection with the new coronavirus (SAR CoV2) in Wuhan China the WHO has issued a state of alert around the world given the rapid and severe spread of a pandemic called COVID-19. This virus an enveloped single-stranded RNA virus was rapidly responsible for a pandemic of COVID-19 disease. The first reported manifestations of the disease were mainly respiratory.Pediatric forms were described somewhat later and remained mostly familial. Children and adolescents under 18 years of age were found to be more rarely affected than adults. Children rarely develop a severe form of Covid-19 or are in most cases asymptomatic. On the other hand the severe form of COVID 19 remains more frequently observed in early childhood such as multi-systemic inflammatory syndrome which is severe but still rare in the pediatric population. The clinical manifestations of COVID 19 in children are not specific: cough fever anosmia and agueusia are less frequent. Most children have a good prognosis. Risk factors include chronic pulmonary cardiac or neurological disease.
