Reeve's translation marks the first fresh English translation since Fowler's Loeb edition in 1926 which is notable. Fortunately Reeve did a fantastic job. Although not completely exact his rendition is generally pretty correct. It is also incredibly readable and clear. Reeve deserves special praise for creating translations of some of the more difficult parts that are not only true to the original but also make sense in English. The lengthy and comprehensive introduction is interesting enough to read on its own. The Classical Review R. F. Stalley
