Criminology

As of today there is a certain criminological vacuum in Russia. The courses on criminology are still based on researches of 70-90 years of XX century i.e. they are hopelessly out-of-date. Some topical issues are not considered in them at all. Very often criminology course is structured like criminal law course. The big problem of not only criminology but also science in general is its isolation from theoretical and practical world achievements. For a long time domestic criminologists tried to ignore or deny the role of foreign studies. This of course is a fundamentally wrong position. Crime cannot be considered within a single aspect. Only in the aggregate we can come to a certain solution. Crime is a global problem so any development in the field of this area should not go unnoticed.
