The administration of justice is a human act and therefore subject to errors that become absolute by the immovability that characterizes the res judicata but in a social state of law these errors must be amended through the action of review which functions as a tool that contributes to the prevalence of real and not apparent justice. The review is covered by substantive and formal requirements that make its analysis complex therefore this paper will explain these substantive and formal requirements in light of the jurisprudential criteria issued by the Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice in the 2004-2014 cohort and thus know its scope for proper use.
