Critical appraisal of waste management in St. Petersburg

This book evaluates the waste management system in the city of St. Petersburg (Russia) and suggests improvements align with European Union''s environment policy and standards. Local specifications undergo a plenary appraisal with focus on waste treatment methods and incineration is presented as an applicable treatment method to prevent and replace landfilling. For a broader understanding a suggestive model is also presented regarding the waste generation rate in the city and amounts of heat and electricity obtainable from this source are calculated. This book does not point out to any absolute resistance to develop changes but rather an urge to recognize what such changes bring consequently.
