Criticism of Atheism and Materialism

This essay first discusses some negative consequences of atheism and materialism a philosophical ideology that denies metaphysical arguments and believes that ultimately the universe is founded on matter itself. In particular I defend the thesis that atheism distances human beings from the value of humility and brings them closer to pride in their own being. Therefore in the opposite sense I will point out that belief in God is an idea that par excellence brings people closer to humility. It therefore moves people away from pride of self. Second I reflect critically on the idea that believers base their belief on the fear of death and its possibility of disappearing. Specifically I will explain that this is a very shallow and reductionist idea of what grounds belief in God.
