CULTURAL CONSTRUCTION OF BODY IMAGE AMONG EFIK WOMEN IN NIGERIA

Cultural globalisation which influences social construction of body image is adjudged to enhance shared norms and knowledge with which people including the Efiks in Nigeria associate their individual and collective cultural identities. Existing studies on social construction of body image concentrated largely on the positive and negative effects with little attention paid to the influence of social media as a result of cultural globalization particularly in Cross River State.This book was therefore designed to investigate the influence of cultural globalisation on the social construction of Efik women with high exposure to social media with a view to examining factors that have shaped the body image perception of Efik women.
