Culturally appropriate childbirth involves the care of the mother and the newborn and aims to incorporate into its practice not only the classic characteristics of care in free position but also a set of actions and attitudes aimed at increasing the access of indigenous and Afro-Ecuadorian communities peoples and nationalities to institutional childbirth care as well as other demands coming from diverse social movements that demand humanised childbirth care.
