However as he achieves his goals he finds them hollow and unfulfilling.</p><p>The novel explores themes of ambition disillusionment and the cost of chasing dreams hinting at the moral and philosophical concerns that would shape Steinbeck's later works.</p><p></p><p></p><p></p>
