E. T. is the pseudonym that Jessie Chambers (1887 - 1944) used to publish her memoirs with emphasis on her friendship with D. H. Lawrence. This little book is of great importance for readers to get to know more in depth the complex psychology of D. H. Lawrence-both as a man and writer. The importance lies in the fact that Jessie''s remembrances are a reliable depiction of Lawrence''s boyhood and adolescence. Through Jessie''s eyes we become witnesses to the artist''s his whims his mannerisms his odd behavior and his literary formation. Jessie''s prose is agile though measured most of the times her narration -at times- gallops and soars through falling and rising skies of memory like a free Pegasus. All in all a wonderful and delightful reading.
