Dallas: Mixed Verse from a Shooting

Do you remember? Do you remember those moments? Do you remember the moments that changed your life? On July 7 2016 Jeff Hood was changed. Shots rang out in Dallas. Five police officers were killed. Nine officers and two civilians were injured. Hood was there. In many ways he still is. There organizing and speaking at the rally. There standing in the middle of the pavement as the shots rang out. There running down the street. There trying to save lives. There striving to stay on message. This is Hoods story . . . told through the verse he was able to construct in the days that followed the bullets. Jeff Hood is an activist and theologian. A graduate of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and Emory University amongst other institutions Hood earned his doctorate with a focus in Queer Theology at Brite Divinity School at Texas Christian University. Hood has repeatedly been arrested seeking liberation for the marginalized and oppressed.
