DAMPING BEHAVIOR IN MICROWAVE-ASSISTED SINTERED AL/SiC COMPOSITES
English

About The Book

High damping materials with the ability to dissipate mechanical vibration are desirable in structural applications such as submarine propellers and aerospace structures. As a result in the current situation finding a material with good mechanical and damping properties is a major challenge. Powder metallurgy is found to be desirable for the fabrication of Al/SiC (Aluminium-silicon carbide) composites as it ensures uniform crystalline distribution controls interface kinetics and works indeterminately even at low temperatures. The present research work involves the fabrication of Al/SiC metal matrix composites with different SiC reinforcement compositions i.e. 5 10 and 15 wt. % through powder metallurgy method. The fabricated Al/SiC composites are sintered using microwave technique. The microwave sintered Al/SiC metal matrix composites were thoroughly investigated.
