This book exposes some unknowns that are generated around children's gender identity and the mental health problems that these entail. Transgenderism in children is a taboo subject in Ecuador which has provoked myths and prejudices due to the little information that exists about it. The search for gender identity in children causes anxiety and other physical and psychological problems. These complications produce an alteration of mood that can be controlled with Dance Movement Therapy. This technique uses body movement as a means of expression and communication and has been applied to prevent and treat physical and psychological difficulties in various populations. With this it is expected to demonstrate that art therapy such as dance is a technique with positive results to reduce psychological distress. Likewise it is expected that there will be a reduction of stigmas and myths in order to fight against certain cultural misconceptions about transgenderism in minors.
