Ultimately he discovers his own Jewish heritage and embraces a mission to support the Zionist cause.</li></ul></li></ul><p>The novel contrasts Gwendolen's painful lessons in responsibility with Daniel's spiritual awakening ending with her in remorse and him moving forward with purpose.</p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p>
