David of Sassoon

<p><em>David of Sassoon</em> is the national epic of the Armenian people. With roots in the distant past the epic recounts in four cycles the exploits of the heroes of Sassoon a region of historical Armenia to the west of Lake Van as they pursue national liberation from foreign oppression. This bilingual volume presents the third cycle as retold by Armenia's national poet Hovhannes Toumanian along with Thomas Samuelian's English translation echoing the rhymes and rhythms of Toumanian's classic poem.</p>
