Caroline a minister's daughter endures a difficult relationship with an older jealous sister and a mother who show her little affection or love. Caroline and her father however form a special bond of love and understanding. He guides her through teenage years and college while serviing as a Navy Chaplain in World War II. Caroline falls in love with a Pre-Med student postpones her nursing career and starts a family She soon finds her husband is an atheist. A second marriage to a Roman Catholic and then a third marriage to a Jewish gentlemen all cause her marital conflicts.</p>
