Defect characterization in rare-earth manganite system by Positron annihilation spectroscopy

About The Book

Colossal magnetoresistive (CMR) manganites are of rapidly growing interest for their remarkable magneto-transport properties. The role of structural defects in material modification is being widely used all over the world. This book deals with study of structural defects-induced changes in magneto-transport properties of rare-earth manganite system. This book presents in one hand a literature survey on this system in the context of its structure electronic properties and the impact of structural defects on those properties. On the other hand it gives an account of how to create purposeful defects through different techniques as well as to characterize those defects through positron annihilation spectroscopy (PAS). Various interesting results obtained from PAS have been matched with other results obtained mainly from resistivity measurements. Present study described herein opens a scope for a comparative study of role of defects produced by different ways in tailoring physical properties of manganite system.
