Desertification and the recurring prolonged drought of the northern region have drastically altered the traditional eco-climatic zones resulting in recurring crop failure. These subtle but undocumented processes of change have induced a southward migration of Man and his livestock typical of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. This book quantitatively derived adequate accurate and up-to-date geo-information on climate over northern Nigeria to delineate new eco-climatic zones for enhanced food productivity and environmental sustainability in the area.
