DEMOGRAPHICS OF THE SIERRA ESPIRITUANA PALM IN BAMBURANAO CUBA

In many cases plant populations are important sources of resources for agriculture forestry recreation and as a refuge for fauna so their study is a necessary aspect to address. Within the characteristics of plant populations in general density and distribution are important. The present work constitutes the first demographic study of the species. For the present study 25 random plots of one hectare each were chosen for a total of 25 ha sampled. It was found that Gaussia spirituana lives in clustered populations. This result is crucial because clustered distribution is classified as a very successful survival strategy.
