Dental trauma and it's management

Traumatic dental injury(TDI) generally occur in early years of life and adolescence which are periods of important psychological development. By altering the facial appearance these injuries hamper not only the functional but social and psychological well being of an Individual also. Trauma as such may also result in disability and even death in some cases. Pattern of injuries in children are different than adults and it can be attributed to several factors. The treatment techniques in children are necessarily modified by certain anatomical physiological and psychological factors. Systematic approach to the traumatized child is essential. Treatment planning should take into consideration the patient’s health and developmental status as well as extent of injuries.
