Deportations are a controversial area of conflict as is evident in the cooperation between AG Rück and the Nigerian Embassy in Germany to identify and subsequently deport migrants without identity documents. This is met with protests and other reactions to these measures. This paper offers an analysis of state deportation practices within Germany and the European Union and the actions of migrants and activists who interact with them. The theoretical framework for this analysis in migration research is provided by the concepts of the border regime (Sabine Hess/Vasilis Tsianos) and the migration apparatus (Gregory Feldman). The study itself is based on official documents and reports from German and EU authorities as well as activist blogs petitions and videos.
