These results combined may be explained by the fact that overconfidence in participants of both studies is more related to the difficulty of measuring confidence judgments rather than their moderate depression. Thus our finding is further support for the fact that people usually show different levels of confidence judgments with difficulty of tasks. (Gilbert et al. 1996; Klayman et al. 1999; Olsson 2014). Another possible explanation is that people’s mood might not be influenced by some of their cognitive activates such as confidence judgments (Allwood & Bjorhag 1991).
