Dermatoglyphics and Diseases

Fingerprints are found in humans and some animals. They are unique to all individuals and remain unchanged over the lifetime. Multiple genes determine fingerprint configurations. The scientific investigation of the hand is beginning to prove without doubt that the hand is indeed worth a study of the finest minds and can reveal not only vital genetic and medical information about an individual but also something of the psychological uniqueness of each person. Dermatoglyphics can be used not only in the field of medicine but also in dentistry for the early identification or prediction of oral lesions & diseases using various available methods. Dermatoglyphics is an inexact science at the present and hence there is a need for extensive research in this field in order to determine the validity.
