English

About The Book

Facial melanoses include a diverse range of disorders that have in common increased pigmentation of the facial region. The diagnosis of these conditions is based on history and clinical examination supplemented in some cases by Wood’s lamp and histopathological evaluation. One of the methods to evaluate this group of conditions is through the use of a dermoscope. Dermoscopy is a technique that utilizes photography and microscopy to increase the diagnostic accuracy of dark skin lesions. The main advantage of using this technique is better visualization of both superficial and deeper layers of the skin. This atlas on dermoscopy is an attempt to address commonly encountered facial pigmentary disorders in South Asia region. We have provided dermoscopy images of common facial melanoses which will aid dermatologists and post graduate students in the diagnosis of these conditions. Text has been kept to the barest minimum and more emphasis has been placed on dermoscopic images. The chapters have been arranged in an alphabetical order. It is expected that post graduate students and dermatologists will be able to derive benefit from this book for both academic purpose and clinical practice.
