Design and Evaluation of a Controlled Release Drug Delivery System

Microencapsulation is a useful method for prolonging drug release from dosage forms and reducing adverse effects recently dosage forms that can precisely control the release rates and target drugs to a specific body site have made an enormous impact in the formulation and development of novel drug delivery systems. Microspheres and microspheres (having a core of the drug) of 1– 1000 µm in diameter and consisting either entirely of a Bioadhesive polymer or having an outer coating of it respectively. Bioadhesive / non bioadhesive microspheres have advantages such as efficient absorption and enhanced bioavailability of drugs owing to their high surface to volume ratio a much more intimate contact with the mucus layer and specific targeting of drugs to the absorption site.
