Design in the textiles of the Bolivian Andes; Ayllu Majasaya Japanese

About The Book

In the Bolivian Andes there are communities that can contribute with creativity to the identity of a National Design. The styles of Andean textiles are mainly linked to the geographical area where they are found and share common cultural characteristics. It is necessary to go back to historical moments prior to the Spanish conquest to have a clear idea of the people and customs that shape and define Andean textile styles. The meaning of textiles cannot be defined as a current design brings reminiscences of historical periods in Bolivia. However at present they have republican and modern elements. The Ayllu Majasaya Japo is located in the Tapacari province of Cochabamba - Bolivia. Specifically in the area of Challa to which it owes its textile style. The definition of basic concepts of Graphic Design allowed a design proposal taking into account the previous points and the socioeconomic reality of the area.
