Design of 1.7 GHz Multiband Meandered Planar Inverted F Antenna

In the past decades cellular communications have become a ubiquitous part of modern life. The desire of people to be able to communicate effectively while being mobile has become an incentive for mobile communications integration in terrestrial and satellite wireless systems. The mobile communications industry has already developed enormously bringing fast and reliable infrastructure to people’s disposal. Yet wireless communications systems are still in the centre of extensive academic and technological research and development with constant demand of more compact faster and more reliable devices and services. Due to enhancement in recent trend the antennas used for mobile hand held devices have to be small lightweight and have directional pattern in horizontal plane. However still there are challenges in the antenna’s performance during interaction with the user’s head and hand. The movement of the user during usage of the mobile hand held device often lead to gain radiation pattern and input impedance change. Therefore to carefully design a handset with superior performance engineers need to give attention to the design of the antenna systems of the mobile transceiver.
