About The Book

In Hans Heinrich Stern`s (1992) 'cultural syllabus' the premise is language related to the situational context in which it occurs. Designers predict situations the learners find themselves in and utilize these; for example the British Council`s`going to the cinema` LearnEnglish Teens` listening exercise in which pictures are presented from movie genres and the students are asked to complete a tick-box exercise to determine whether they think the picture is from a horror science fiction romance comedy action historical drama or cartoon film. In culturally based situations language is used and learned so elements of the `cultural syllabus` are important for the multi-approach.
