Determinants of Farmers Participation in FRGs

Recommendations: Enhance production and productivity of rice: through introduction adaptation/evaluation and dissemination of improved rice varieties agronomic practices (fertilizer application seed rates weed management and post harvest techniques) is one key intervention point. Promoting and facilitating agricultural services: Promoting and facilitating access to credit research training and education services is found to be one of the key area of intervention through demonstration plots field-days experience sharing trainings literacy campaign/adult education programs farmers training centers (FTC) and farmers’ field schools (FFS) approaches. Development of rice processing facilities: especial attention should be given to improve quality of rice by introducing proper rice post harvest machines (especially of polishing machine) in addition to introduction of commercial varieties of rice. Development of community-based rice seed production system: through “community-based-seed production and dissemination approach” and facilitate farmer to farmer seed exchange mechanism which helps availability of quality rice seed at grass-root level. Strengthening the existing FRG.
