Determinants of quality of cord blood as a source of stem cells

Stem cells from embryos have outstanding characteristics that differentiate them from other cell types: undifferentiated cells are not specialized; they are capable of dividing and renewing themselves as many times as necessary and differentiate into specialized cells when exposed to certain physiological or experimental conditions. This work has the objective to evaluate the maternal and fetal factors and quality markers of samples from umbilical cord blood in units collected in a public bank.
