Detroit Techno

Detroit has a sound of its own: the rattle of conveyor belts and robots assembling cars the angry shouting of mobs running riot and the repetitive and gloomy beats of Detroit techno reflecting it. Viewed through a cultural and musical perspective this work takes an extensive look at the history of techno music in Detroit: Its roots its rise during the 1980's its unique relation to the post-industrial environment of the city the diverse transitions it encountered and its eventual conformation to the globalized techno of today.
