This work presents an analysis of the development of entrepreneurship and small businesses in Sub-Saharan Africa focusing on the example of two countries: Ghana and South Africa. At the beginning of the work the theoretical concept of entrepreneurship in economic growth and economic development is reviewed. The core of this work is focused on the “nature” of the SME sectors the SME landscape and existed SME policies in the two countries studied. Further readers may get insight into the economic profile of Ghana and South Africa. The issues related to structural change and the role of the SME sector under structural transformation are considered. The methodological approaches applied in this book are literature review descriptive analysis country-study based on the empirical evidence analysis of national surveys. This work might be interesting for researchers of entrepreneurship and small businesses who study the Sub-Saharan Africa region.
