The production of activated carbon is increasing day by day. The strong market position held by activated carbon relates to its unique properties and low cost compared with that of possible competitive inorganic adsorbents like zeolites. Activated carbon is used primarily as an adsorbent to remove organic compounds and pollutants from liquid and gas streams.
