Development of Oral Microflora

The resident oral microflora plays an important role in the normal development of mouth and the maintenance of health. Clinicians need to be aware of the beneficial properties of the resident microflora and their treatment strategies should be focused on the control rather than the elimination of these organisms especially in the dental plaque. In the future it may be feasible to target particular pathogen or more imaginative approaches could be used to prevent the disease.
