After the apparent triumph of democratic capitalism with the collapse of the<br />Soviet Union in 1991 democratic capitalism is now floundering world-wide. Several new kinds<br />of threats to it have arisen both internally and externally and there looms ahead of us a fresh<br />struggle for our laws and liberties and a liberal international order. Paul champions and exercises<br />freedom of expression without fear or favour.</p><p>All the pieces in this book with the exception of five speeches printed here for the first time were<br />published in various newspapers and magazines over the past three years since the publication of<br />Opinions and Reflections.
