FOREWORD By means of honouring the memory of Denis Diderot on the occasion of the third centenary of his birth in 2013 I wished to present this novel as if this was his unpublished manuscript which was discovered today accompanied by a letter sent to his beloved Sophie Volland wherein Diderot retells his dream. The letter is dated Paris 20th September 1769 few days after Diderot actually wrote his work entitled: The Dream of d'Alembert.
