About The Book

This book talks about research on pigs fed high energy diet containing animal fat also containing either fish oil or linseed oil or cla or garlic so as to produce low cost and lean meat and also with pigs with low lipid profile. Diet supplemented with animal fat at five per cent level had higher growth and carcass performances but elevated the plasma lipid profile. The elevated plasma lipids can be significantly reduced by supplementation of one per cent of either fish oil cla garlic or linseed oil without affecting growth and carcass performance. Among the supplements cla had more ability to reduce ldl cholesterol and garlic was more economical in terms of cost of feed per KG weight gain.
