The challenges associated with population growth environmental safety and global health uncertainties put the developing economies at greater risk of food insecurity hunger and poverty. This is evident in the impact of the covid-19 pandemic felt by the food sector in many developing countries in Africa and Nigeria is not an exception. While other countries battled the health impact of the pandemic the most devastating impact in Nigeria was felt in food supply which greatly impaired the effectiveness of the government restrictions and regulations. Therefore indicating a critical need for the adoption of modern technology by both farmers and all agricultural stakeholders to enhance coping capacity increase productivity and advance the efficiency of the food production sector. The growing adoption of the internet and utilization of social media in Nigeria creates room for a new dimension of growth development and diversification in the agricultural sector.
