Dilemmas of a Middle-aged Madonna

<p>Spurned by Jake the love of her life Jessica contemplates walking into the the water at <strong>Trinity Beach</strong> (in <strong>Far North Queensland</strong>) to drown herself when she is jolted back by someone crossing into her line of vision. The diversion leads her to an encounter with a couple tourists from Italy Davide and Gabriella and their company lightens her mood. Later that night she reflects on the men she has had in her life and we see her experiences with them through backstories.On her return to Melbourne she finally discovers why Jake has been treating her so cruelly. She embarks on a journey overseas to put some distance between her and Jake while she decides on her future. Whilst <strong>travelling</strong> throughout <strong>Nova Scotia</strong> and on to <strong>New York City</strong> she has to deal with the dilemma of Jake contacting her to profess his love and desire to reunite. As the story progresses we are taken on a roller-coaster ride as Jessica deals with Jake's vacillation and her desire to be free of his thrall. A uniquely visual story that sees our protagonist experience many journeys: physically emotionally and metaphorically.</p><p>A story of <strong>romance</strong> which lurches<strong> </strong>from<strong> pathos </strong>to <strong>comedy</strong> this tale of <strong>love in later life</strong> is interspersed with tasteful <strong>erotica. </strong> A testament to the power that female friendships nostalgic book characters and music have in enabling us to navigate our way back from heartbreak .</p><p><br></p><p><br></p>
