Jawaharlal Nehru the first Prime Minister of India in July 1947 for the newly created Indian Foreign Service. He had the unique distinction of representing India in all the major capitals of the World namely London Moscow Washington Paris and Peking. His four years as Foreign Secretary brought him in close touch with leaders and statesmen the world over especially in UNO NAM and Commonwealth of Nations. He breathed his last on 16th January 2000.
