Directive Illocutionary Acts

This book mainly concern of pragmatics study that is learnt more detail in the scope of speech act. This paper focused on directive illocutionary act which is part of speech act. This study entitled “Directive Illocutionary Acts Performed on Alex’s dialogue in Movie Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted”. The data were taken from an animated movie Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted. Madagascar 3: Europe''s Most Wanted is a 2012 American 3D computer-animated comedy film. In presenting the data the dialogue involving the data was inserted. In order to conduct this study firstly the theory used was the taxonomy of illocutionary act and they are: assertive directive commisive expressive and declarations. Then regarding to the speaker’s meaning and is dependent on the context of situation it was necessary to support the analysis by the concept of context of situation by Halliday (1985).
